ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to be welcoming Mita Corsini Bland to offer an exclusive creative watercolour painting retreat in the Island of Jersey in the English Channel.
In light of COVID-19, we are still taking bookings but we will be following developments as time goes on to determine whether or not the course can go ahead.
About the course
Mita is an accomplished watercolourist, renowned for her fabulous courses at her home in Porto Ercole. She will offer insights and techniques in painting and drawing, shapes, colours, their tones and values, as well as composition.
Participants will enjoy six days of painting within the Island’s fabulous coastal environment and granted exclusive access to private homes and gardens. Jersey prides itself on its good hospitality so we will ensure that you are treated to the very best of the local cuisine and have all you need to enjoy your time on the course.
The course will principally take place at Greve de Lecq Barracks, on the north west coast of the Island. Built in the early nineteenth century as part of the Island’s defence against Napoleon’s forces, the Barracks are nestled between two headlands with a golden sandy beach just below.
Since August 2019 the Barracks have been home to ArtHouse Jersey. They have self catering accommodation and art studios on site, making it the perfect place to base the course.
Each day will offer something different, with a variety of unique and inspiring spaces to explore, along with skills and techniques to try. There will also be time to start to focus on more developed individual projects. A typical day might include:
10:00am: Meet at the Barracks for a demonstration and discussion
11:00 – 1:00pm: Morning session with drawing practice at the Barracks or specially selected interior or exterior site
1:00 – 2:30pm: Break for lunch, provided by our chef
3:00 – 6:00pm: Afternoon session followed by (very friendly!) critique
8:30pm: Dinner at a local restaurant or at the Barracks. Our wonderful chef will be keeping us well fed!
Costs, lodgings and how to book
The cost for the course is £1,750 (British pounds). The price includes instruction, lunch and dinner, except for two restaurant meals, which will be
charged on the day. It does not include airfare, transportation or lodging. The course is limited to ten people, open to both men and women.
