Following the hugely successful showing of the ‘Paper Dialogues’ exhibition at St. Helier Parish Hall in 2016, it has been on tour with the inclusion of two Jersey artists’ interpretations of paper dragons to join the work of celebrated International Artists Karen Bit Vejle and Professor Xioguang Qiao. Layla Arthur has created her own thirteen panel paper-cut representation of the Island which spans all twelve parishes reflecting on our collective
identity. Emma Reid has turned the form on its head with a 3-D model of the Dragon of La Hougue Bie protecting the Island’s ‘treasures’.
The exhibition has been displayed at the Centre for Papirkunst in Denmark throughout 2019 and is
due to start a US tour in 2021. The project is a gift that keeps on giving and is likely to be flying the Jersey
flag for years to come.
